Behind the Scenes of Victoria La Mala's EP Cover Shoot : SOY MALA

Victoria La Mala’s “Soy Mala” EP and Cover Art

Here at Eres Diosa, we illuminate the spotlight on women who embrace their confidence; Mexican singer Victoria La Mala revels in hers, which much to our delight, we got to witness first-hand at the photo shoot for the cover artwork of her latest project.

Soy Mala, her eight-track EP released on May 5, showcases a diverse range of genres from R&B to trap to corrido (a traditional Mexican musical style in the form of ballads that channel socially relevant topics). “It’s important for me to represent my culture and where I come from,” says Victoria, while behind the scenes of her women-led photo shoot. Creatively directed by Eres Diosa visionary Melissa Marin, the cover artwork’s concept reflects the EP’s principal message: to embody what it means to be mala, or in the words of Victoria: “a bad bitch.” Embodied in an all white, crystal-encrusted two-piece set like a true goddess, Victoria channels her feminine energy by loving herself to the fullest, invigorating women to celebrate themselves as well.

Of the eight songs on her EP, seven of them feature collaborations with distinguished Latin music industry creatives, from the likes of Paloma Blanca singer Chiquis Rivera (daughter of the late Jenni Rivera), former Selena y Los Dinos keyboardist Joe Ojeda and guitarist Chris Perez (husband of the late Selena Quintanilla). Victoria’s own hispanic pride radiates through her work, taking the opportunity to shine a light on immigrants’ struggles and triumphs amidst life’s adversities, as expressed through her song, “Nuestra Tierra”.

With the objective to inspire people by relaying the essence of self-empowerment, each song encompasses a culmination of Victoria’s own experiences, influences and upbringing. Whether it be moving on from a toxic relationship, knowing one’s worth, or embracing one’s heritage regardless of tribulations, her goal is to uplift anyone who may be going through a rough patch through her lively yet profoundly relatable tunes. “You can get everything you want out of life,” says Victoria encouragingly, as she makes the most of hers.
